Week 10 Round-Up - Life Is (getting) Real

SEP 4 - Aaron Mullan

Fri 30 Aug

One/Two/SHA – Group E

Week 10 kicked off with three clear victories in OTS Grp E for Great King Rat (66-13 v Modern Times…), Lily Of The Valley (65-14 v Misfire) and Now I’m Here (70-9 v She Makes Me). Barring monumental upsets in the final group games we’re likely to see Now I’m Here in 1st spot and Great King Rat taking the play-off place.

One/Two/SHA – Group F

The narrowest of victories (40-39) in the top of the table clash between Seven Seas Of Rhye and Brighton Rock left SSOR in pole position to clinch top spot in the group. However, there’s a rumour going round that Stone Cold Crazy (68-11 winner over Loser In The End) can still challenge the mighty titan SSOR in a final group showdown. Brighton Rock now needs a final, convincing win over the decidedly fallible Jesus (beaten 52-27 by Dear Friends) to sneak into one of the top two places.

Night/Day/News – Group A

Identical 69-10 wins for Bohemian Rhapsody (v Lazing On A Sunday Afternoon) and Love Of My Life (v Sweet Lady) guaranteed the Opera heavyweights the top two spots. They’ll remain in the spotlight in the final round, but it will require an unlikely win for LOML over Bo Rhap to claim the 1st place.

Night/Day/News – Group B

It’s Late moved top of the pile with a 69-10 win over All Dead, All Dead, but the News Of The World headlines were dominated by the loss of We Will Rock You to The Prophet’s Song (47-32)…who saw that coming? The Prophet’s Song now sits in 2nd place behind Its Late (only on vote difference), but has completed it’s group games. WWRY now has one final chance taking on It’s Late. to avoid ending up a big disgrace and out of the Queen World Cup.

Night/Day/News – Group C

With Death On Two Legs already top of NDN Grp C, We Are the Champions and You Take My Breath Away both won 61-9 (over Good Company and Get Dow, Make Love respectively). In the final group fixtures DOTL is likely to retain 1st place (taking on pointless GDML), but WATC and YTMBA face off in another heavyweight clash…even a narrow win may not be enough to see YTMBA into the play-off place!

Night/Day/News – Group D

A full fixture list saw Somebody To Love (64-6 win over You And I) and My Melancholy Blues (39-31 win over ’39…ironically) confirmed both songs safe in the top two places. Meanwhile, Drowse was asleep at the wheel, losing 47-23 to I’m In Love With My Car. Top spot will now be decided as Somebody To Love squares up to My Melancholy Blues in the last set of Group D matches.

Night/Day/News – Group E

You’re My Best Friend defeated Seaside Rendezvous (51-19) both now 3pts behind the soaring Spread Your Wings. Sheer Heart Attack is barely alive but hanging onto qualifying hopes via a 42-28 win over Teo Torriate.  Seaside Rendezvous now sits out the final fixtures leaving YMBF playing Sheer Heart Attack in the most meaningful match, as Spread Your Wings is likely to defeat Teo Torriate and more than cling to first place.

Night/Day/News – Group F

Results in NDN Grp F went as expected with The Millionaire Waltz dancing rings round Fight From The Inside (60-10) and Good Old-Fashioned Lover Boy smacking Sleeping On The Sidewalk right on the kisser (also 60-10). Who Needs You picked up it’s first victory, beating White Man 41-29. If the final group matches to go to form The Millionaire Waltz and Good Old-Fashioned Lover Boy should secure first and second places.

Jazz/Game/Flash – Group A

Fat Bottomed Girls squashed the challenge of Mustapha (45-14), whilst If You Can’t Beat Them again made the conjunction redundant with Rock It (Prime Jive) winning out 50-9. It’s now three from two in the final matches as Fat Bottomed Girls (currently 1st) waits to play Rock It (currently 3rd). Second placed Crazy Little Thing Called Love will secure at least runner-up by beating If You Can’t…

Jazz/Game/Flash – Group B

Play The Game did just that ensuring it no fun for Fun It (53-6), whilst Dead On Time downed The Hero (33-26). In the final group matches Don’t Stop Me Now looks unstoppable (playing Dead On Time), leaving Play The Game needing just a draw against The Hero to secure runner-up spot.

Jazz/Game/Flash – Group C

Dragon Attack flamed In Only Seven Days (54-5) and Need Your Loving Tonight edged out Flash’s Theme (32-27). Despite the win Need Your Loving Tonight has now completed it’s fixtures and sits in third spot on vote difference – surely only catastrophic mechanical failure can now puncture Bicycle Race’s bid for runner-up spot behind Dragon Attack?
